It seems that Boris Johnson is showing his true colours. As if anyone really needed to be told he is facile.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2137808/The-Cycling-Revolution-How-Boris-courted-lost-growing-cycling-lobby.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

He rode to power as Mayor of London on the back of his message that bicycle‘s were good and that he was an avid cyclist. Come on, who swallowed that one. Wasn’t Cameron his fag at Eaton? Boris is related to half the royal families of Europe, both extant and extinct. Who really believed he was a posh toff on a bike?

IF he believed in bikes, why then would he now be toeing the conservative party line in making cars his priority, assuming the Daily Mail’s spin on the story is accurate.

The government, and not the Mayor of London, should actually ban all cars from Greater London, improve public and sustainable transport thereby reducing pollution. Freeing up roads for essential emergency services cabs and commercial vehicles. Reducing noise and air pollution and improving the health of Londoners.

I await the death threats from yummy mummies who cannot live without their Chelsea Tractors.

You are an outspoken ‘protector of the public’. πŸ™‚

Well, i do wonder why a lawyer from the city would become a policeman and then a vegetarian, though having met in 2006 the founder of LEAP (and former chief of police of Seattle) in 2006, nothing much surprises me . Check it out, it might be your next career πŸ™‚

..BTW – a look at the international section of their website shows a glaring absence of presence in the U.K. -looks like something you could spearhead πŸ™‚ You have the quals! Go for it!

  4. Hey Alison, thanks for that link. I will have a proper look later it looks to be really interesting. I have my next career worked out already. Sit in the garden, eat my garden, drink my garden and breath my garden.
I will probably hug some of my trees too, but sadly I won’t be able to smoke my garden … πŸ˜‰

  5. The sensible thing would be to start with an outright ban on the school run (everywhere). And then take it from there. Wasn’t there some city (Athens?) where you could only drive on certain days depending on your colour coding or something like that? Years ago so can’t remember.

    • Yep, think they did the same in LA or San Fran because of the killer smogs. See we don’t learn, Victorian London peasoupers to LA smog and Athens pollution.

Now if I was an outspoken sort of person I would say NO to cars for everyone starting with all the big knobs who don’t actually need to go anywhere because they have stockpiled enough cash. Like that’ll happen.

      • How do we transport our dog without a vehicle? (just to make this one personal).

      • Trailer on your bike or by public transport. Shock horror, you could make the dog walk. (I know you do, just teasing) πŸ˜‰

      • Public transport no. 175 kms on a bike with a huge dog and me as well? The last time we tried the tandem we both fell off and the neighbours were ROFL saying we were going to kill ourselves. We couldn’t get five yards. Dog can’t walk that far either at his age πŸ˜‰

      • Oh well, I tried. How about a 2cv? Fuelled by chicken poo of course
